Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration, the anniversary set explained
30th Celebration is a special expansion of the Mega Evolution Series, created for the 30 years of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which began in Japan in October 1996. It is the first set to launch on the same day everywhere in the world, in every language.
Every card is holofoil
Every card in the set is holofoil, Basic Energy included, and almost all of them carry the Pokémon 30th Anniversary logo. The English list is numbered out of 128 before the secret cards. Mewtwo ex and Mew ex lead the set, joined by Umbreon ex, Salamence ex and Greninja ex.
One Pikachu in every booster pack
A booster pack holds five cards plus one Basic Energy. One of the five is always a Pikachu rare: a subset of 30 different Pikachu, numbered 01/30 to 30/30, with its own foil pattern and the anniversary logo behind the card text.
A day and night theme
The set and its products follow a day and night theme, and many cards exist as a daytime and a nighttime counterpart. This is why the Ultra-Premium Collection comes in two editions, Espeon and Umbreon.
New rarities and the Classic Collection
- Futuristic rare: vivid colours and 3D Energy and Poké Ball elements, illustrated by the artist YOSHIROTTEN, who also created the key visual of the set.
- RGB rare: secret cards in a highly saturated red, green and blue palette, also by YOSHIROTTEN.
- Classic Collection: 30 cards reprinted from Base Set to the present day, each with a sparkling golden border.
Where to find the cards
Like other special expansions, 30th Celebration comes in collections, Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles, mini tins and blisters. See our 30th Celebration products.
